Young Gun Checks In

The Blackburn Hawks are excited to announce the signing of Ethan Mayoh. A young 18-year-old player from Bolton who has dedicated the past four years of his career at Okanagan ice hockey academy in Swindon.

Ethan began his relatively short hockey career in Blackburn before moving onto Manchester Phoenix where he played for 2 seasons. He then had the opportunity to join the OHA academy in Swindon where he has played ever since, developing his game to become a valuable member of the highly respected junior organisation.

His ability has earned his selections in the South West conference teams over the past few seasons, and trials for GB u18’s alongside fellow Hawks netminder Harrison Walker.

James Neil had this to say about his latest signing:

“I’m delighted that Ethan has decided to come back home and play for the Hawks next season. He’s a fantastic young player and over the last few seasons has gained very high praise from many well-respected personnel in British ice hockey. Ethan has great skating ability and is a good puck moving defencemen. He has great awareness on the ice and that’s something that can’t be taught. I can’t wait to help develop his game further so he can move to that next level which he is more than capable of.”

”With the way the league situation has panned out with fixtures and the number of teams, giving the young lads the chance to play is definitely something I want to do next season. They need the opportunity to play regularly and gain experience in senior hockey which is something our game needs in this country.”

Ethan has this to say about signing with the Hawks:

“I have known James for a number of years now, going back to when my family were season ticket holders for the Phoenix. He was a big influence on me when learning to play hockey in the first place.”

“Obviously, when James got in touch and offered me the chance to play alongside him it was an easy decision for a number of reasons. To have the opportunity to play with, and continue to learn from a player like James who I watched growing up, and also the current Blackburn squad is something that really excites me. I can’t wait to get started and hopefully repay the faith that James and Blackburn Hawks have shown in me, and contribute towards delivering a good season for Blackburn.”
