Young, gritty forward joins Bees 2017-18 squad
In continuing with both their squad building and commitment to development of youth players, in partnership and cooperation with the Bracknell Ice Hockey Club (BIHC), the Bracknell Bees are today announcing the latest addition to their 2017-18 National Ice Hockey League (NIHL) Division 1 South ranks.
Chertsey born, twenty-one year old forward Josh Martin joins the Bees having iced for the Bracknell Hornets last season in thirty-one games picking up thirteen goals and thirteen assists. Bees fans may recognise Josh’s name as he also represented the Bees six times last season.
Following a brief stint with the Bracknell U16 Stingers in 2009-10 Josh moved along the A322 to join the Guildford Firestars. He remained part of the Guildford junior system for a further three seasons representing the U16 Firestars and U18 Phoenix. In 2014-15 he split his time between the Solent Devils and Bracknell Hornets, both then NIHL clubs, before two more seasons with the Hornets including one as Alternate Captain.
With 35 goals at U18 level and a further 20 goals and 27 assists in just over 80 NIHL (all competition) games already Josh has shown an eye for goal and a work ethic of note.
Scott Spearing, Bracknell Bees Head Coach, said of the clubs latest signing:
“Josh has been playing for the Hornets for the last couple of seasons, has developed his gritty style of play and is willing to put his body on the line for his team. I am confident that Josh will be able to contribute and add the firepower that we will need this year. He is very dedicated and very much a team player.“
As in previous seasons we are happy to announce that Josh’s jerseys will be available as part of our 2017-18 Own & Loan Jersey scheme.
The Light or Dark jerseys are both available and complete details of the scheme and the jersey designs will be released soon but if you are interested in participating in this great opportunity then please email us at email@example.com with the details of the jersey you are interested in.
All shirts are sold on a first come, first served basis and the process is that you “own” the jersey and “loan” it back to the player for the season to wear. The jersey will then be presented to the owner at the end of the season at a time and date to be arranged.
