19-year-old Robson is learning his trade fast as he continues to develop as a cool-headed blue liner. With two senior seasons now under his belt, Robson also played a vital role in helping the U20s take the North League title in what was a very busy campaign for the young Star.

Robson has targeted certain areas of his game for improvement as he goes for glory on both fronts once again:

“Winning the U20s League was definitely a highlight of last season, it is the first time I have won a league and to have done so only losing one game was quite an achievement. I feel this season will be a bit more difficult with the addition of a Whitley team and also Deeside joining – I think there will be more competition at the top of the table. I gained a lot of experience in the League especially with Ian [Weedall] as a coach – there is still a lot to learn from him on top of what I have already improved on this last season. My performance last season was quite good but I feel that I could improve my game by working on my fitness so I can keep up in the third period in important games. I’m making this my target for next season so that I can help the U20s team hopefully win the League again and for the senior Stars to make the playoffs.

The aspect of my game that I could work on is on the opposing blue line – some work on improving the accuracy of my shots and the power to try and get a few more goals for the team. My personal goal is to keep turning up and doing what is asked of me when I get my shift on the ice. The ambition for the team as a whole is to improve our consistency and hopefully get a few less injuries. I think with the new signings that have been made we can really be a force to be reckoned with this year, even though it is a shame to lose Munroe as he is a good defender who did a lot for the team.”

Will’s return brings the defence count to six as the Stars squad is fine-tuned. There is plenty of news still to come, particularly with fixtures due out any day, so keep checking all the usual outlets for the latest.
