Wildcat Lee Kemp is Let Loose in the Wild
Widnes Wild are delighted to announce the signing of 27-year-old Lee Kemp.
Lee, originally from Nottingham, has joined the Wild after playing 5 months with Widnes Wildcats. The former Wildcats star started playing hockey from the very young age of 10 with Nottingham juniors, progressing through his career playing with Nottingham Lions and also spending 2 seasons with Peterborough Islanders. Lee has made 10 appearances with Widnes Wildcats and has scored 3 goals and has assisted in 3.
Lee had this to say about the news;
‘I wanted to sign as I’ve played league hockey all my career and since leaving Nottingham and moving to Widnes, the Wild is a perfect place to kick start my hockey career again.’
‘My aim this season is to bring something different to the team along the lines of physical presence and laughter. I’m quick on the ice so hopefully I’ll be able to give some tips to my new teammates. I’m also looking to learn a lot from the new head coach, Scott McKenzie.’
‘I’m really looking forward to playing league hockey again with a great bunch of lads. It’s a new start for me so hopefully we can have a great season and challenge for the title. It’s going to be great playing under a coach of Scott’s attributes as he will be looking to bring in brilliant things this season and I generally can’t wait to get started.’
Lee had this message for the fans;
‘I think the fans need to be patient with the team as we’re still getting to know one another, however I can promise that the team will give 110% on and off the ice. All we ask is that the fans continue to get behind us at every opportunity as I know the #WildOnes are the best fans in the league.’
Head Coach Scott Mckenzie had this to say about Lee;
‘Lee Kemp is going to add a real presence to our D core. He adds size and strength to our line up and I’m pleased to have brought him into the fold.’
‘As with every player, there are things we want to improve about Lee’s game but like the entire team, he is keen to learn and wants to be a part of the unit that we are building here at Widnes.’
