Wild Women Away To Milton Keynes Falcons This Sunday
The Widnes Wild women’s team are on the road again for their penultimate league of the season away to Milton Keynes Falcons this Sunday 7th May – 6.30pm face off.
They will be hoping to build on last Sunday’s performance when they won 2-9 away at Slough Phantoms to give their end of season play-off hopes a late boost.
The Falcons are in third place in the league table with 12 points from their 9 league games to date. They picked up a creditable 3-3 draw against title contenders Streatham Storm last weekend which almost certainly secured their own place in the end of season play offs and means that the title race will go to the wire.
Current league leaders Storm travel to second place Chelmsford Cobras in the last league match of the season for both teams on Sunday 14th May and the winners of that game will win the league title. If the match is drawn, Streatham will take the title by one point.
Looking forward to the game at Milton Keynes, coach Owen Tennant said:
“The girls played outstandingly last weekend and made me a very proud coach. All the training has paid off and we are confident going into the final two games of the season that we can come away with another two wins.”
While the Wild women’s team may be away on Sunday, there is still competitive ice hockey to be seen at Silver Blades Widnes this Sunday 7th May as the Widnes Wildcats take on the Whitley Bay Islanders in their opening fixture in the 2017 summer cup competition.
The game faces off at 4.30pm and admission is free.
