Wild Travel To Coventry – Match Preview With Ollie Barron
The RTL sponsored Widnes Wild return to the ice with a trip away to the league’s bottom club Coventry Blaze this Saturday 7th January.
The Wild are currently second in the Laidler Conference table with 10 wins and one draw from their 15 games to date while Coventry have just one point on the board – and that from a game that was not played at Blackburn due to a fault with the ice surface.
Widnes are on a roll with a run of 4 consecutive wins and they are hoping to close up the gap at the top of the table.
Looking ahead to the game, Player Coach Ollie Barron said:
“The team has had a break over the Christmas period as I felt it was important for players to have the time away from the rink to enjoy with family and friends. We are back in training this Thursday preparing for the Coventry game and looking forward to getting back into game action.
“Coventry are yet to win a game but we won’t underestimate them. This league is very close as I have said before and teams can take points from others on their day – but we will be looking to take the points and continue our run of wins.”
“Looking ahead to the rest of the season, I just want to focus game by game, We had some disappointing results in 2016, but I feel we turned the corner and put in some great team performances to put ourselves back in the mix.
“I am hopeful of players returning from injury to further strengthen the squad for a busy January of fixtures.”
I hope to see as many fans in Coventry cheering us on.”
The RTL sponsored travel to Coventry on Saturday for a 7.30pm face this Saturday 7th January. The next home game will be on Sunday 22nd January when they face Sheffield Senators in a 5.30pm face off at Silver Blades Widnes.
