Wild Celebrations At End of Season Presentation Evening

The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild held their end of season awards evening at the Moorfields Sports and Social Club in Widnes on Saturday evening to celebrate the club’s historic achievement of winning the Laidler Division league championship for the first time and also securing their third Play Off title in a row.

Players, coaches, volunteers and fans were able to enjoy a hot and cold buffet and music for dancing along with the presentation of the various awards – and the evening was expertly MC’d by Vince Bullock.

Fans were presented with their “own and loan” players shirts and volunteers were given special boxes of chocolates as a thank you for their efforts over the course of the season.

The Player Awards went to:

  • Players’ Player Of The Season: #91 Michal Novak
  • Coaches’ Player Of The Season: #91 Michal Novak
  • Best Defenceman: #18 Daniel Fay
  • Best Forward: #72 Jakub Hajek
  • Most Improved Player: #84 Tom Jackson
  • Supporters’ Player Of The Season: #18 Daniel Fay

… and coaches Richard Charles and Mark Gillingham both received special awards.

  • Daniel Fay receives the Best Defenceman award.
  • Jakub Hajek receives the Best Forward award.
  • Michal Novak was named Player’s Player of the Season and also Coaches’ Player of the Season
  • Coaches Richard Charles and Mark Gillingham receive special awards from Head Coach Ollie Barron.
  • Tom Jackson was named Most Improved Player of the Season

The players were also presented with their Laidler Division championship medals which had not been available to hand out when the trophy was presented by the EIHA at the last league game of the season.
