Wild At Home To Coventry Blaze This Sunday
Wild’s Mikey Gilbert (#16) scores in the 5-2 home win over Coventry Blaze back in September.
The RTL sponsored Widnes Wild will be looking for a return to winning ways when they entertain the Coventry Blaze this Sunday 28th January in a Laidler Division match at Silver Blades Widnes – 5.30pm face off.
The Laidler Division title race is so tight this season – with the top 5 teams separated by just two points – that every game is crucial and, with almost every team being able to take points off the others on their day, nothing can be taken for granted.
The Wild have beaten Coventry twice this season so far – 5-2 at home back in September and 1-6 away in October but the Blaze are an improving side and have picked up wins over Sutton Sting and Sheffield Senators since then, so will be no pushovers.
The game on Sunday is being sponsored by Hemsec Panel Technologies who are also one of the Wild club sponsors for the season.
As part of their match sponsorship, the Prescot-based company – who manufacture composite insulated panels for the construction industry and food production and storage environments – have kindly arranged for some lucky fans to win tickets to the match. They will also participate in a ceremonial puck drop at the start of the game and present the MVP awards afterwards, with souvenir photos to be take by Wild club photographer Geoff White.
The competition was run over the past week on Hemsec’s Facebook page, with the winners due to be announced later today.
The RTL sponsored Widnes Wild play the Coventry Blaze this Sunday 28th January at Silver Blades Widnes. The game faces off at 5.30pm and doors open at 4.45.
The Wild’s away game at Hull Jets – which was originally arranged for 3rd February – has had to be rescheduled as the venue is needed to stage Hull Pirates’ NIHL National Cup semi final game against the Sheffield Steeldogs that day.
The game will now take place at Hull Arena on Sunday 18th March instead – a week after the Jets’ visit to Widnes and the night after the Wild’s game away to Altrincham Aces.
