Wild At Home To Aces This Sunday / Academy U15s Play First Home Game On Saturday

Wild player coach Ollie Barron (#7) is the league’s top scorer so far with 11+19 from 10 games.

The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild will have the opportunity to consolidate their position at the top of the Laidler Division table when they take on north west rivals Altrincham Aces this Sunday at Planet Ice Widnes – 5.30pm face off.

Games against the Aces are always competitive and entertaining and this first meeting between the two teams this season is unlikely to disappoint. Altrincham have won 5 of their 8 games to date this season and boast an impressive line up. They have a new import for this season in Jakub Pavlicek who has scored 15+9 in 8 games and their second highest points scorer at present is experienced former EPL player Jake Nurse with 2+15 from 5 games.

Wild player coach Ollie Barron actually tops the league scoring tables at present with 11+19 from 10 games and Widnes import Jakub Hajek is second with 16+13.

The Wild are top of the table with 16 points from their 10 games – 1 point ahead of Hull Jets who have 15 points from 11. The Aces are down in 6th place at present but have games in hand over the top teams so both sides will have a lot to play for on Sunday.

The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild play the Altrincham Aces this Sunday 4th November at Planet Ice Widnes. Face off is at 5.30pm and doors open at 4.45.

The day before, a bit of history will be made at Planet Ice Widnes as the Wild Academy Under 15 team play their first ever home competitive fixture when they take on the Nottingham Under 15 team on Saturday.

The Wild Under 15s have played two away games already – losing 11-2 away at Blackburn and then 22-2 away at Deeside. However, it has to be remembered that these Wild players are making their first ever foray into competitive hockey whereas the Deeside, Blackburn and Nottingham teams in their division all boast many experienced players who already have several years of league games behind them.

As such, the Wild Academy teams will be looking upon this debut season as one for gaining important match experience and it will be interesting to see how they develop as individuals and  team as the season progresses.

The Under 15 game faces off at 6.50pm on Saturday and admission to go and support the Wild stars of the future is completely free.
