Whitley Bay Rink Under Threat – Need YOUR Help Now!

No waffle today – straight to the point.  News has emerged that Whitley Bay Ice Rink – and various other local amenities in the same area – have been included in a plan for a new housing development by North Tyneside Council.  There is a consultation period currently underway but that ends on Monday 6th January.  All ice hockey fans are being asked to send a letter of objection to the council planning office to arrive by that date.  The address is as follows: Freepost RSAE-SHKR-JCKS, North Tyneside Council, Planning Policy, Quadrant East (1st Floor Left), The Silverlink North, North Tyneside NE27 0BY

It’s a freepost address so it won’t cost you anything but letters do have to be there before next Monday. We think it is important to let the Council know that this is not just a LOCAL planning issue and is of importance to people from right across the country.  We have already lost Durham, Sunderland and Newcastle as ice hockey venues in the North East and can’t afford to lose any more.

If you are not sure how to go about composing a letter or objection, I have penned a draft here that you can download and take the basic facts from for yourself: https://app.box.com/s/gxxmvrx1iy1a9egyjzrf
