Weekend preview: Wild aim to put out the Blaze
Two losses out of three in the pre-season for the Wild, leading into the start of the season seems certainly not the best of returns, with players not really counting the win due to unforeseeable circumstances in the home leg and an impressive away leg to the Barons. Fans alike, players and Scott McKenzie will be confident that the squad are ready to take another stepping stone in moving forward as a club.
After weeks of preparation and hard graft, Saturday will see Wild start their campaign away from home and be heading to the Skydome Arena to take on Coventry Blaze NHIL, with the face off at 18:45, and the team with high hopes after a summer of few changes, will be hoping to make a winning start against Blaze and get them off the mark.
The two sides will come head to head in what will be the first out of four meetings this season both teams will want to have the best start possible for the season to progress through each game in the league to reach their overall goal at the end of the season.
Hopefully, Wild will have a full squad on the bench and the new pulling on the Wild jersey for the first time in competitive competition, led by newly announced captain Shaun Dippnall with Ken Armstrong and Calum Ruddick as assistant captains.
What will be an enthusiastic start to a very competitive ice hockey season for all involved, with tough challenges ahead; the Wild will be up for the challenge looking for another successful season.
There are limited spaces left for the coach to Coventry. If you can’t make the trip to the games, then don’t forget the Wild’s official Twitter account will keep you informed with score updates and play by play updates.
