A RACER TO WATCH

Martin Cingel

Slovakian born veteran, the 42 year old Left Wing has spent most of his career in Scotland. He started off in the Slovakian League with Dubnica and then MHC Martin before moving to Edinburgh in 2002. He stayed with the Edinburgh Capitals for 9 seasons, playing in the BNL and EIHL before Tony Hand tempted him down to Manchester for a season with the Phoenix in the EPIHL. Back up to Edinburgh the following year he again iced for the Capitals from 2016-18 before a brief stint across the Tay at Dundee Stars then down to Dumfries where he was a regular score for the Solway Sharks in the NIHL. Edinburgh, however was his home and he went back to the capital and the Capitals. With their demise at the end of last season he joined up again with Tony Hand to play for the re-formed Murrayfield Racers in the Scottish National League and the NIHL North Cup. Overall Martin has iced over 850 league games in Slovakia and Great Britain scoring 253 goals and 339 assists in a distinguished career.

Hawks lost both games last weekend, 7-6 to a thrilling game against Sutton Sting and 7-0 at home to the Hull Pirates. On the Saturday thriller, Hawks came back from 6-3 down only to lose in the last minute to the Sting. Sunday’s game may have looked like a disaster for the Hawks but their efforts throughout brought praise from the coaches and the fans after the game.

Hawks will be looking for a couple of wins this weekend to start the year successfully by ending their cup fixtures with a win and hopefully a league win that will see them start to climb the table.
