Web TV a success at Conference weekend

This year’s EIHA Conference weekend was streamed online for friends, family and fans who couldn’t make the tournament in Sheffield.

The Association and broadcaster 247.tv have today hailed the broadcast a success and confirmed that it will be repeated in 2016.

Tournament Director Geoff Hemmerman said: “The online TV coverage added to the accessibility of the event, and it was used by those who could not get
to Sheffield to see the games live.

“At £2 per game, supporters could choose what they wanted to watch and I think it represented excellent value for money.”

Adrian Battersby, Head of Production for 247.tv said: “It was a wonderful experience and I’m glad the gamble worked in that some quite amazing matches were covered and can be cherished for years to come. Some special individual performances alongside great goals added to the whole spectacle.

“Even more importantly, we just about broke even financially which I doubted beforehand as we had set the price so low but I hope this goes to show that webcasting can work at the £2 bracket in the right situations. I was happy that we did not force people to pay a large amount for a tournament pass for matches that they had no interest in and that they could pick and choose their matches.

“Many thanks has to go to commentators Stephen Dowson and Jon Fearnley who were both excellent in their knowledge and passion and I hope this is the start of something big.”

As well as confirming the 2016 Conference Weekend, EIHA and 247.tv will also be broadcasting the games from this coming weekend’s National Junior Finals (16/17 May, Ice Sheffield).
