Walton Joins The Belfast Giants Legends Roster

The Belfast Giants Legends are proud to announce that Franchise All Time leading appearance maker Graeme Walton will be back on the Odyssey ice come Tuesday 18th February.

The hometown hero spent his entire pro career with the Belfast Giants racking up an incredible 570 outings, almost 100 clear of his closest former team mate. It won’t be lost on Graeme that it was then Head Coach Rob Stewart that threw the local lads a Professional opportunity in the first EIHL season, one that Wally grabbed with both hands and ended up as one of the most revered servants the organisation has ever had.

The first “local” to gain representative honours with Team GB, he iced in the World Championships in Division One, picked up an assist in the Olympic Games Qualifiers, and over 4 seasons even captured a bronze medal, a remarkable achievement indeed for a lad who grew up just a slap-shot away from the Dundonald International Ice-Bowl. Graeme also has a Grand Slam of Awards in his personal Trophy Cabinet, Double Elite League Winner, Playoff Champion, Knock Out Cup Winner and Challenge Cup Winner. It is no surprise the number 18 he wore will forever be “Wallys number 18” as the club retired it after his last game in 2013.

Graeme joins Dave Whistle, Paxton Schulte, Kevin Riehl, Steve Thornton, Colin Ward, Curtis Huppe and Jason Bowen on a star studded roster, the 4th shirt retiree to be confirmed for the big night!

Fans can purchase tickets for Rob Stewart’s Testimonial from the Odyssey Arena Box Office in person, by calling (028) 9073 9074 or online at Ticketmaster.
