UK Round Up 29th September
Elite League
The Elite got underway with plenty of eyes on the Nottingham Panthers. Following a disappointing weekend last weekend the Panthers travelled the short distance north to face the Sheffield Steelers. In as even a contest as you will ever find the two sides shared second period goals and the shot count. With nothing to split the sides penalties were needed again and the Panthers gained the revenge they needed.
Penalties were needed again in Coventry as the Blaze hosted the Stingrays. A Giudice hat trick was not enough to give the Blaze the two points in regulation as a 5 goal second period haul from the visitors gave them the lead into the 3 period. Leeb and Schutte scored to take the game to penalties where the home team got the winner.
The night also saw wins for the Cardiff Devils over the Edinburgh Capitals whilst a goal from the returning Jade Galbraith wasn’t enough to lift the Braehead Clan over the Belfast Giants.
EPL
There were important wins for the two early favourites in the EPL as the Guildford Flames maintained there 100% record and the Bison hit 5 past Lightning. The Bracknell Bees also continued there good form as they beat the Phantoms to move up to fourth in the table.
In the National League the Solway Sharks unbeaten National League record came to an end as they were blown out by the Billingham Stars 5 – 0.
