U20: EIHA teams head to Dumfries for IHUK National Finals
May 3, 2017
The U20 sides of Coventry Blaze and Kingston Sharks will head to Dumfries this weekend to represent EIHA in the second annual Ice Hockey UK (IHUK) National Finals.
Coventry head north as the English number 1 seed, following their victory over Kingston at EPIHL POFW. Two goals from Matthew Maurice lifted Blaze to a 2-1 win. Coventry had won U20 League South, while Kingston were winners of the North League.
In the IHUK Finals, Coventry and Kingston will go up against the top two sides from Scottish Ice Hockey’s U20 league – Fife Falcons and Aberdeen Lynx. The sides play crossover semi finals on Saturday, with the two winners meeting in the Grand Final on Sunday afternoon.
Fife are making a second successive visit to the National Finals – they were beaten in overtime last year by Sheffield in a thrilling Final. All other finalists are making their first trip to IHUK Nationals.
Ice Hockey UK have today confirmed the schedule for the weekend. Fife Falcons play Kingston Sharks in the first semi final at 2.30pm, before Coventry Blaze face Aberdeen Lynx at 7.00pm.
Sunday’s action starts at 12noon with an u11 exhibition featuring Scotland v Northern Conference before the Grand Final faces off at 3.00pm.
Tickets are available in advance via TicketWeb, priced at £10 per day or £15 for a weekend pass (booking fees apply). Children under 16 go free when accompanied by a paying adult.
