Tigers to honour team at presentation night

Telford Tigers will honour this season’s English Premier League squad at a glittering awards dinner, to be held at The Place Theatre in Oakengates on Friday, April 8th.

The ceremony will include a sumptuous buffet, with dancing afterwards.

Guests will also be treated to the first viewing of a film to mark 30 years of ice hockey in Telford, including memories from players and back-room staff from the last three decades.

Wayne Scholes, CEO of Tigers owners Red Hockey, wants the evening to be a celebration of a remarkable season – and 30 years of ice hockey in the town.

He said: “This year is notable for a number of reasons, but of course, the players who have fought it out all season deserve an evening to celebrate their hard work.

“I am proud of the guys that pull on a Tigers shirt every week. I am also proud of the fans who fill the stands, week in, week out. They deserve a good night out with the players, which is why we’ll be having dancing afterwards!

“I want this event to include something for everyone. The last 30 years of ice hockey in Telford has shaped many different lives, so I commissioned a film to mark the occasion.

“We have been talking to some of the people who were part of the story, but haven’t been seen in Telford for a long time. It will be a real trip down memory lane.”

The club are also selling sponsorship of the awards, with a number of corporate entertainment packages now available.

Supporters will be invited to vote for selected awards at the final two home games of the season, via voting slips that will be handed out on the doors.

Mr. Scholes added: “It is only right that we have as many Tigers supporters at the ceremony as possible.

“We want to celebrate a great season, but also look forward to an exciting future. Everyone at the Tigers has a part to play in making this club a key part of the British ice hockey scene.

“I am certain it is going to be a memorable event, in more ways than one.”

Tickets for the awards dinner are priced at £20 – entry is limited, with tickets to be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event will start at 7pm and end at 1pm. The dress code is ‘dress to impress’.

Tickets will go on sale at Sunday’s home game against Swindon Wildcats, and will be available from the Tigers office throughout the week.
