Telford Tigers ran out 6-4 winners in the 1st leg of the National Cup Final in Peterborough. Tigers made a sluggish start and fell behind to an Ales Padelek goal. But Tigers responded with a goal from Adam Taylor before James Ferrara put Peterborough ahead again. Tigers equalised with a shorthanded goal form Dominik Florian and took the lead with a goal from Jack Watkins to lead 3-2 at the end of the 2nd period.
At the start of the 3rd period, Callum Buglass levelled the game for Peterborough. Tigers’ Jonathan Weaver, playing his first game since October scored a power play goal to put Tigers back in the lead and was immediately followed by Taylor’s 2nd of the game to put Tigers 5-3 ahead. Corey McEwan pegged Tigers back but Weaver, added a late power play goal to seal a 6-4 win and put Tigers firmly in control of the tie. The 2nd leg is in Telford next Wednesday.
