Tigers Look To Repeat Last Weekend Double
Telford Tigers will be targeting an early start against Basingstoke Bison and Slough Jets this weekend.
The Tigers travel to Basingstoke on Saturday, before the visit of Slough the next day (5:30pm). This week’s matches are an exact reverse of last week’s encounters, when Telford emerged with four points – pushing them into the EPL play-off positions.
Both of those recent wins were characterised by the county men taking an early lead, and defending that cushion for much of the game.
Tigers coach Tom Watkins wants his side to take advantage of those confident starts once again this weekend.
He said: “It is not just about getting an early goal, although obviously that helps. It is also about establishing ourselves at the start and being able to control the game.
“If we can do that, skate hard and finish our hits, then I’ll be happy. All teams make mistakes, give away a breakaway or a goal, but as long as we are on top, then we will have a good chance of taking all the points.”
