Tigers face Lightning in early challenge

Telford Tigers will start their pre-season programme with a home and away series of games against Milton Keynes Lightning next month.

The two teams will meet in Milton Keynes on Saturday 27th August, before a return encounter at Telford Ice Rink the next evening.

The games will be an early chance for Telford to gain revenge after their early exit from last season’s EPL play-offs at the hands of the Lightning.

Tigers coach Tom Watkins said: “There will be a little bit of rivalry of course and maybe some hangover from the play-offs, but that’s not a bad that for either side.

“The guys always want to play in a high-tempo atmosphere and it will be an excellent challenge for them after the first week of pre-season training.

“I am looking forward to these games and they will be intense for the time of year. The new guys will be keen to prove what they can do, which is exciting.”

Telford Tigers Managing Director Paul Thomason, who has taken control of the club alongside CEO Matt Bowyer, is looking forward to starting the new season on a high.

He said: “It has been a very long summer for everyone at the club, so to finally start planning for pre-season games is a great feeling.

“The fact that we are playing Milton Keynes, who beat us in the play-offs last season, makes it even more exciting. Everyone will be out to prove a point.

“Of course, pre-season games are all about preparing the squad for the new season, but it would be great to get the upper hand early on.”

Tickets, which are due to go on sale two weeks before the game, will cost £12.50 for adults and £6 concessions. Season tickets will not be valid for this game.
