This Week 2nd March

It has been a very big of action and an important one especial in Telford who seem to have been at the centre of everything this week.

Steelers Steal a Tiger for Semi Final

Tuesdays Challenge Cup semi final second between the Panthers and the Steelers was one of the more memorable games between the two for a long time. Memorable though for the performance of stand in goaltender Sam Gospel loaned out for the night from the Telford Tigers.

The Steelers down by 2 goals from the first leg overturned the deficit and sent the game to penalties. Gospel stood tall and saved all 3 shots as the Steelers won the penalties 1-0.

They will be joined in the final by the Cardiff Devils who ran out 9-3 winners on aggregate over the Coventry Blaze.

Capitals Slide As Giants and Panthers Claim Playoff Spot

Belfast may have lost to the Capitals last weekend but this week it was the Capitals loss to the Flyers that saw the Giants become the next side to reach the playoffs. It was the also the Caps loss to the Panthers on Sunday that put the Panthers into playoffs

The Giants making the playoffs though is not the most worrying for the Capitals but their form will be. Those 2 defeats over the weekend though has seen them remain outside of the playoff places and it was made worse as the Blaze beat the Steelers.

Stars Playoff Dreams Over

In a dramatic night at the Hull Arena the Dundee Stars were the visitors. Needing a win to keep their playoff dream alive the Stars had a 2 goal lead heading into the third period. The home side responded sending the game to penalty shots.

In the fifth round of shots a Dolan’s effort was saved and Meyer knotted home for the homeside to eliminate the Stars.

Tigers Tame EPL Claim

It had long been thought of as foregone conclusion but the with a 5-4 win in Peterborough Telford claimed its first EPL crown. It is the first time the Tigers have won a league crown despite being around for nearly 30 years.
