This Week 29th December

The Christmas period is a time of reflection and for some fans in the EIHL this week it is a time to look back and wonder just how quickly things can change.

EPL Stars Back with EIHL

Jeff Legue the Steelers famous number 11 is back with the side after making the short hop from Ice Sheffield where he started the season with the Steeldogs. Meanwhile Curtis Huppe is back with the Giants after signing a deal till the end of the season from the Guildford Flames

On the Up

Nottingham and Belfast were in a position to where they were looking up and beginning to wonder if this would be end of their season or whether they would be still in contention. The Panthers had two games against the league leading Sheffield Steelers and two wins for the Yorkshire side would have put them 13 points ahead but instead they are 6 points and closing.

Cardiff are another team on the rise. The difference for the Devils is that it is no change. The Devils have gone rather under the radar but thanks to two wins over the Blaze they were top of the conference standings on Saturday night and also 3 points from the summit.

On the Down

Two loses to the Nottingham Panthers is hard for the Steelers but when it does mean they are now back in the pack instead of pulling clear at the top it is even harder to take. Braehead’s rival on Sunday night will not have helped matters either as the Clan ended their slip to trial the Steelers by a point.

Edinburgh have been a joy in recent weeks as their form turned them from a playoff outsider into a playoff contender. The Capitals 2 loses at the weekend to the Hull Stingrays is not the end of the hopes for them but it does shows this will be tight race come April between the Capitals, Flyers and Stingrays and maybe the Blaze.

The Coventry Blaze has turned losing into a habit this season. They are still on the outside looking in for the playoff race and 2 loses to the Devils over Christmas has seen the gap to the promised land increased.

EPL Playoff Tickets Available

As the new year comes around thoughts turn to the end of the season and the EPL Finals tickets are now on sale. The EIHL will also launch their tickets for the end of season bash.
