The Captain Is Back

The BCD Solway Sharks have re-signed their treble winning captain Struan Tonnar for the season ahead. Twenty-seven year old Tonnar has played all his senior career at the Sharks and will be looking to get his hands on more silverware as the new season approaches.

Struan is someone who always seems to be amongst the goals and is a popular figure with the Sharks fans and everyone is happy to have the captain back.

Struan himself commented “I am happy to be back with the club and we want to keep the momentum from last season going as the new league and season gets under way. We have a great bunch of boys who stick together and that is a big part of our success. We all know the high standards Martin sets for us and we also have the same standards so it’s easy for us to come to play every game. We have been forced into a few changes this year but we are determined to be pushing for honours again and emulate last season”.

Head Coach Martin Grubb stated “Struan was always a player I wanted back and it’s a no brainier for us as he contributes so much to the team both on and off the ice. He skates well, has good size and always scores goals when you need them. We will need him to hit the net on a regular basis this season. He is someone who cares deeply about the club and shares the same values that I have for the team so I look forward to working with him again to bring success to this club”.

Tonnar will line up in his very familiar #51 jersey and will join the rest of his team in the Sharks roster. I am sure everyone will welcome him back to the Sharks.
