Telford Tigers 2 finish as Group Winners!

Telford Tigers 2 finish as Laidler Cup Midlands group winners after their win on the road against local rivals Coventry Blaze NIHL. Blaze took the lead within the first three minutes of play, but Tigers quickly equalised taking the first period to a one goal stalemate.

The game hit the halfway point and Tigers’ defencemen Conor Gordon fired the puck in the top corner putting Tigers ahead. Blaze then started to apply the pressure and managed to capitalise on a powerplay, taking the two a-piece score line up until the end of the second period.

Blaze’s Daniel Kent managed to find the back of the Tigers net early into the final period, but less than 30 seconds later Tigers’ Dan Mitchell squashed the Blazes’ lead. Both teams carried the 3-3 equalising score-line through until the final few minutes of the game. Mitchell made his statement in the game by netting the fourth and final goal for Tigers giving them the win.

The 4-3 win for Tigers 2 over Coventry Blaze NIHL means that the Shropshire side finish as group winners and have now confirmed their place in the semi-final of the 2021/22 NIHL Laidler Cup.
