Team GB & Team Ireland In Huge World Championship Games
Both Team GB and Team Ireland have two games remaining in their respective World Championship groups over the coming days with plenty to play for.
On Friday and Saturday Team GB will face Japan and South Korea respectively with two wins vital in Team GB’s quest to remain in Division 1A in the World Championships. Team GB will be helped by four of the Belfast Giants with Davey Phillips, Stephen Murphy, Colin Shields & Craig Peacock all icing for their national side in Budapest, Hungary this week.
Team Ireland and Giants forward, Gareth Roberts have had mixed fortunes so far in their World Championship Group (Division 3) this week in South Africa. Team Ireland started well with a vital win against Greece, however defeats by the host nation & Luxembourg leave Friday’s & Sunday’s games against North Korea and United Arab Emirates as ‘must win’ if they are to stand any chance of picking up a medal in South Africa. Gareth Roberts still remains in the top 5 in the scoring charts with 4 goals and one assist in 3 games played.
