Szwez Overtime Winner Gets Giants Off To A Flyer

The Stena Line Belfast Giants got their two game road trip off to a flyer with a 5-4 overtime win in Fife. Jeffrey Szwez was the hero, hammering home a slapshot with 3.6 seconds remaining to give the Elite League Champions their 14th straight win. With the overtime win, the Giants snapped the Fife Flyers six game winning streak, although the home side can claim a point and remain two points from 8th position and are possible playoff opponents for Belfast.

Stena Line Belfast Giants Head Coach Paul Adey was full of praise following the hard fought win in Fife, “It was nice to see the puck hit the back of the net – it was a hard fought win and a nice shot from Szwez to win the game in overtime. Every night we’re going to play hard and we’re not going to give anyone any points.”

“We have a good team spirit and the guys play well together and as a team. We play good hockey and the guys work hard and do a good job for the fans and their teammates.”

GOOOOOOOOAL!!!!! Jeffrey Szwez scores the game winning goal with an absolute cannon! Final Score: Fife Flyers 4-5 Belfast Giants
