Swapping Tigers for Hawks

Blackburn Hawks are happy to announce the signing of Phil Mulcahy from Telford Tigers for the coming 2016 / 17 season.

“I am extremely happy to be signing Phil” said Hawks head coach Matt Darlow.   “It was his break out year at NIHL1 last season, and he lead from the front in every game I watched him play.

I’ve known Phil since our Conference days together and he brings well rounded offensive and defensive skills to our unit as well as being a fantastic guy to be around, a true team player.

Phil is making a big move north to live in the Blackburn area and it shows the kind of character he is to move specifically to contribute to our team, definitely one we want in our dressing room and out on the ice.

You’ll see a lot of ability on show with Phil as well as a drive to be better and a grittiness that opposition players hate to have to deal with. He skates well, makes great plays, has a solid understanding of the game & scores goals, a package we want.

It’s a pleasure to work with Phil again & I’m sure he’ll be flying when he hits the ice with us in August.”

Phil himself said “I’m very excited for my move to the Hawks in the coming season. The organisation and coach Matt Darlow have been very helpful and welcoming already.

I’m looking to build on my performance from last season and help the team in any way I can. I know a lot of the players already and I know we can do good things this season.

“I’ve been told that fans in Blackburn are the best in the league and I know the team this year won’t disappoint.”

We hope that you will all join us in welcoming Phil to the Blackburn hockey family.
