Super Zubek Joins Phantoms

The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms have this evening announced the signing of Slovakian Forward Frantisek Zubek for the upcoming English Premier League campaign.

Zubek joins the Phantoms from VHK VSetin of the Slovakian league, where he has played for the past two seasons, where he averaged over a point a game. His previous two seasons saw him pull on the shirts of HC Unicov and HC Decin in Slovakia.

Zubek is the Phantoms second import signing of the close season, following on from Defenceman Marcel Petran who also recently joined the Cambridgeshire club.

Speaking on Wednesday evening, Phantoms Head Coach Jon Kynaston said of his new recruit “Frantisek will bring some key components that our team will need this coming season. He is extremely fast and has very good skills. He may be small in stature, but he plays the boards very well, which will be a big benefit in our rink.

“In the EPL the two most difficult things to defend is high speed and high skill levels and we needed this to add to the other elements that we will be building into our roster. I truely believe Frantisek will do very well in the EPL. Whist his stats may not jump out at you, often they are misleading. He has done very well in Elite levels and will be a very good player in the EPL.

“More importantly, he will bring what we need in our jigsaw right now. I am sure he will endear himself to the Phantoms faithful and I know he is really looking forward to being a Peterborough Phantom. He is already familiar with a couple of his future teammates which will help him settle in quickly”
