Stuey Ashton ready for the fight ahead

Blackburn Hawks new Head Coach Matt Darlow continues to be proactive with the signing of everyone’s favourite goalie, Stuey Ashton.

Stuey (Stuart) is another product of Blackburn’s junior system and he has been a big part of the team’s success over the past few seasons.  Stuey is as committed as ever to playing for his boyhood club for another season and is relishing the challenge ahead.

Stuey commented. “Why on earth would I contemplate playing elsewhere, this is my club, it’s where I belong, it’s where I grew up, I play because I love to play, it’s my home and I love it.   I love the club and everything about it, especially the fans it’s a great place to play and, and let’s be honest my mates are all here.”

Matt himself went on to state, “I’m a goalie myself, I’ve been really impressed watching Stuey over the past few seasons and I’ve noticed his ice time has continued to get more and more, it’s great to know we have someone like Stuey onboard with the right mental attitude and approach, it can only make my job easier.  I can’t wait to get started and I’m excited to be able to work with Stuey to make his game even better than it already is.”

Matt also went on to say  “I’ve made several offers to players from within our own league and others, as well as offers to players abroad.  I know it’s only May, but we have to be out of the blocks quickly to secure quality players for the season ahead, and that’s what I’ve been doing, we’re all very excited at the changes that lay ahead”.
