Slovakian defenceman Igor Bobcek has penned a deal with Manchester Storm for 2015-16.

The 31-year-old has extensive experience of playing in Europe and spent last season with MsHK Zilina.He totalled eight points from the blueline last year, scoring two goals and contributing eight assists.

Bobcat has also played in Kazakhstan, Italy, Czech Republic and Germany, while he was a champion in Poland in 2004-05.

Storm player-coach, Omar Pacha, said: “Igor is a tall and strong physical defenceman.

“He plays a smart game and moves very well for his size.”

“He has a heavy shot and is a great addition to our team.”

The Storm play their first game since reforming in the summer with a home pre-season game against the Nottingham Panthers tonight (Saturday), with a 6:30pm face-off.

Manchester also welcome Sheffield Steelers to Altrincham on Wednesday 2nd September.

Storm’s first game back in the Elite League is on the road at Cardiff Devils on Saturday 5th September, before returning home the next day to take on Edinburgh Capitals.
