Steve Saviano Named Elite League Player Of The Week

Stena Line Belfast Giants forward Steve Saviano has been named Elite League Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday 26th February 2017.

Saviano was in sensational form during Saturday’s game against Fife; scoring twice during the first period, including the game winner, and twice during the third period to bag four goals in total as the Giants defeated the Flyers 7-2 at The SSE Arena.

The 35-year-old then followed that performance up with the game winning goal during Sunday’s 4-3 win in Nottingham, converting on the power play at 16.04 of the second period to help Belfast move back up in to second place in the Elite League.

The former Växjö Lakers HC and Djurgårdens IF winger now has 17 goals and 39 points in 45 Elite League games for the Giants this season, adding a further four goals and nine points in 11 Challenge Cup games for the club.

Belfast welcome Manchester Storm to The SSE Arena on Saturday night, their only fixture this weekend.
