Stars swoop to make late signing after injury blow

Oxford City
Stars have moved quickly to draft in net-minding cover – after Milan Ronai picked
up an injury.

suffered a groin injury during the Stars challenger game at home last weekend.

Head Coach
signed Ross Miller, 24, to join Mark Duffy as the club’s fit net-minders.

Miller grew
up at Cardiff Devils and played for Bristol Pitbulls 25 times last season.

He trained with
the Stars this week and his paperwork has been completed in time for him to be
in the squad on Sunday.

Miller said:
“It’s a great opportunity to join the stars for me personally, it’s always
unfortunate when injuries occur and hopefully, I can help with the burden going

Oxford, for
as long as I’ve been playing has always been a competitive club and I look
forward to the challenge.”

Anderson said: “Milan came to me at the end of the first period last Sunday and
told me he had an issue with his troublesome groin.

“It was
important that we managed the situation properly this early in the season, so
we put Mark Duffy in for the remainder of the game against the Raiders.

Going into
this weekend with only one fit Netminder was never going to be an option to me,
so I scoured around for an injury cover replacement and Ross Miller’s name came

“I have been
aware of Ross for a few years now and he has always been someone who has
impressed me, especially when he played in Cardiff. He played in Bristol last
season, so after a quick character reference from our new signings from Bristol
and I made my move.

“Ross came
in on Wednesday for practice and although he has not faced a puck for a few
months, he actually looked very sharp.

“He is
really good technically has real high compete levels and seems like a real great
guy to have in the room and someone who can support and push Duffy to be the
best he can be.

We obviously
wish Milan a speedy recovery. Groins are something that you have to rehab
properly, and we will support Milan right through that process and look forward
to seeing him back between the pipes soon.”

Stars will
also see another new player on Sunday, with David Manning due to make his
debut. Manning who was signed in the summer did not appear in the challenge
games due to a delay in his registration.

Ruslan Cernych is out injured after suffering an injury on Sunday.
