Stars extend Anderson’s contract

Oxford City Stars new board has announced that the first move of the summer has been to extend Head Coach Simon Anderson’s contract from a 12 month deal to a 2 year deal. Anderson who signed for next term in April has been rewarded with an addition year after a fine end to the season.

Stars Director James Schall said  “We’ve been very impressed with Simon’s hard work and success over the recent season, 4th place was beyond most people’s expectations but Simon delivered.  Also one of our goals is to create more stability within the club to help us improve the Ice Hockey offering in Oxford, by providing Simon with this 2 year deal,  we’re securing not only a well-regarded coach but also a man that on his Wedding Anniversary was busy talking to players about joining us here in Oxford while sat in a restaurant  celebrating with his Wife. I’m not so sure she was as happy as we were with that situation!”

Simon Anderson added ” I am delighted to be given the opportunity to extend my current contract. Once i was approached by Paul, James and Russell, it was a very easy decision, especially after they revealed their plans for the future of the club. We are heading only in one direction with these guys in charge and its an exciting time to be a part of this great organisation. I have been very busy during the last month contacting players and putting together a Stars roster, that everyone will again be proud of and one in which i feel can challenge at the top end of the league.”

Seen by many observers, as a coach on the up, the securing of Simon Anderson at the helm is the start of an exciting close season of news for the Stars.  With Anderson the target of other clubs in the division, Oxford’s board moved quickly to add the extra 12 months to his current deal . James Schall said “Simon was a man in demand after our season closed, He’s a hockey man through an through and brings us such a vibrant, skilful and fast style which our fans lap up, we’re overjoyed Simon has committed to Oxford for the next few years at least”

Coach Anderson took part in the Stars Fans Forum held last night where lots of new initiatives were discussed including Season ticket benefits, next years kit, switching the home end at Oxpens Road and making the Ice Rink more of a home stadium for the Ice Hockey team.
