Stars aim to shake the Titans

telfordUltimate Windows Billingham Stars enter the last weekend of their regular NIHL One (N) campaign when they take on  Telford Titans in a home and away double header.

The Titans visit Billingham`s TFM Ice Arena on Saturday night with the Stars heading to Shropshire on Sunday night.

With the league title now having crossed the Border to Solway Sharks and the Titans safely above relegation issues the Stars are keen to use these games as preparation for Aprils play-off games.

The Teessiders go into this weekend’s games as favourites, with 4- 0 and 4-3 victories already under their belts against the Titans.

Long term injuries Andy Thornton and Andy Finn will not be available this weekend but it is hoped that Andy Finn who has resumed training will be back on the Stars bench for the play-offs.

Karl Culley is doubtful and James Udel will not be available on Sunday. With Dave Thomas still away the Stars will fill any short falls this weekend from a number of junior players that have trained this week with the seniors.

With the leagues top four already decided, Solway play fourth placed Blackburn and Billingham are up against third placed Sutton in the play off semi finals, and should produce an exciting climax to this year’s regular season.

Stars Coach Simon leach will make way to Terry Ward and Richie Thornton to run the bench this weekend but he is keen for the stars to stick to their winning ways;

“We are unbeaten in 12 games, its important that we go into the play offs in good shape, that means both in terms of fitness but also in a good winning state of mind”

The Teessider`s go into this weekend’s games as favourites, with 4- 0 home and a 4-3 away victories already under their belts against the Titans.

Simon Leach warns that his side cant take anything for granted on the road to Telford;

“Telford have not travelled well this season, but they are a different prospect on their home ice, I am sure they will want to put a show on for their last home game of the season”.

With play-off fixtures between Billingham and Sutton expected to be formalised this weekend, the Solway v Blackburn semi-final dates were confirmed yesterday as Saturday 13th April at Solway and Sunday 14th April at Blackburn.

Doors for the Titans game will be opening at 5.45pm for a 6.30pm face off. Tickets are available on the night at the TFM Ice Arena Box Office – Adults £7, Concessions (U16s – OAP s – Students) £4, Family Ticket (2 Adults + 2 Children) £20.
