Spartans face Whitley & Sutton

Sheffield Spartans look to bounce back this weekend after two recent losses with a tricky looking double header starting with Whitley Warriors on Saturday 28th September, facing off at 3.45pm at Ice Sheffield, due to Steeldogs EPL clash with Manchester which faces of at 7.30pm. Whitley Warriors have strengthened their roster & made a solid start to the season which they will be keen to continue but Spartans are more than capable of getting a result against Warriors as they have proven in the past in what are usually good games between the two sides. There is no reason why Saturday’s game should be any different.

On Sunday, Spartans are in action again at Ice Sheffield but this time for an “away” game against local rivals Sutton Sting, keen to gain revenge last season’s whitewash in which Spartans on occasions didn’t really do themselves justice so they will be looking for a determined performance as they seek to address last season failings. Please note that the face-off time for this match is 7.30pm.

Spartans Coach, Martin White commented…The lads showed they have a great heart and attitude last weekend, despite our suffering back to back losses we’re keen to put things right and welcome the opportunity to play Whitley and Sutton this coming weekend. Both games will be fast and no doubt exciting, Whitley will always bring good offense and play hard from the first drop of the puck which is why they’re great opponents and capable of challenging for the title this season.

Our game ‘away’ to Sutton on Sunday will see the Spartans face many of their old team mates in what is always a hotly contested ‘derby’ match. Sutton have strengthened their attacking options over the summer and their roster looks capable of posting plenty of goals over the coming season. They will be backing themselves to challenge for the title, and will be keen to pick up the points after an unexpected opening game loss to Manchester.

So two potentially great games of hockey against two good teams but how will it all pan out this weekend? There is only one way to find out…get yourself down to Ice Sheffield & make some noise for your Sheffield Spartans.
