Spartans away at Manchester
Spartans Coach Martin White took time out to look ahead to this Saturday’s fixture in Altrincham against Manchester Minotaurs in what is once again for Spartans a must win game.
Martin commented…”This weekend sees us travel over the Pennines to face Manchester for the second time in as many weeks and we’ll be looking to improve on both our performance and the score line from our last meeting. We made hard work of it at times and we were not at our best, and although the score line flattered Manchester we have to credit them on a dogged performance especially as they were short benched. We struggled to put together fluid passages of play despite controlling the game, there were however lapses in concentration especially in the first but a much improved second period sealed the win.
With only 3 league fixtures remaining were still in the playoff race and will likely be battling Sutton for the 4th and final spot. Without taking anything for granted and keeping the end of last season in mind the lads are determined to atone for last season’s slip at the death and pick up 2 points from Manchester, before looking to the remaining games vs unbeaten champions Blackburn and finally Sutton. It’s been a tight league, and it looks like our pre-season prediction of a final game decider is on the cards. Our last two games are at iceSheffield so come down and support the lads”.
That pretty much sums up how everyone involved with the Spartans feels right now and we are all determined not just to get the two points we need but also to put in a solid performance to give us a boost going into those last two tricky matches that will ultimately seal our fate. Face off in Altrincham on Saturday is 5.00pm.
