Slovak Sedivy signs up with the Mos

filipsedivy_signs_040719The Invicta Dynamos have completed their import pairing for 2019/20 by securing the signature of 26 year old Slovakian forward Filip Sedivy who moves to Kent having spent last season with the London Raiders.

Filip Sedivy iced in his home nation, America, Canada and Germany before moving to the UK last term. Having played junior hockey in Slovakia, the forward continued his development across the pond in the Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AtJHL) with the Washington Junior Capitals between 2011 and 2013. The following year he moved on to Canada and the Alliston Coyotes where he was prolific in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL) – managing 36 goals and 71 assists for 107 points in 48 games.

Sedivy returned home in 2014 and he iced in Slovakia’s second tier until 2017 where he featured 96 times and amassed 38 points. His yearn for travel had not been fully satisfied though and in 2017/18 he was back on the road – this time signing for Soester EG in Germany’s fourth division. After 30 outings and 25 points, he was then brought to the UK last season where he plied his trade in British Ice Hockey’s second tier with the London Raiders. Sedivy played 43 games for the Raiders and added 11 goals, 22 assists and so 33 points to their cause. Now he will stay put in the southeast of the country as he pens a deal bringing him to Gillingham with fellow Slovak Juraj Huska for 2019/20.

Speaking on his move to Gillingham Filip Sedivy said, “After spending last season with the Raiders in London my priority was to carry on playing hockey in the UK in 2019/20. My good friend Juraj Huska told me all about Invicta and how much he enjoyed playing for the Dynamos so it seemed the perfect fit for me. When I visited with the Raiders I could tell the fans were passionate about the game so I’m very happy to be joining the club and playing for them this season.”

When quizzed on both what he hoped to bring to the team and what he wanted to achieve in 2019/20 Sedivy then added, “I like to think I will bring speed, experience, leadership and a load of points to the team this season. Everywhere I go I want to be a good person for the club and to win and it will be no different this year. I’m really looking forward to the start of the season in September.”

Sedivy’s new Player-Coach Anthony Leone said, “I’m pleased to have been able to bring Filip to the team. As soon as the opportunity came to sign him – I took it. Whenever we faced him last season he was a very strong player. He skates well, can carry the puck and knows where the net is. I’m taking no risks with our import slots in 2019/20 and with Filip we know exactly what we’re getting. I know he’ll gel with his linemates and I’ve no doubt we’ll get the best out of him making him an important part of the team. I think Filip is a great signing for us and I look forward to seeing him in action for the Dynamos.”

Slovakian Filip Sedivy will wear the number 92 jersey for the Mos when the new season begins in September.
