Skins go for goals

Streatham Redskins are delighted to announce two new faces to the line-up for the 2013/14 season.

Both are forwards capable of racking up the goals and are the first two confirmed signings following the announcement of Head Coach Warren Rost and his assistant Terry England last week.

First through the door is NIHL South All-Star forward Sean Scarbrough who joins us from Cardiff Devils.

The 27 year old Californian joined the Welsh side last summer from the Australian league and rewarded Coach Mark Cuddihy with some superb displays, especially early on in the season as he allayed any Devils fears about the loss of previous season’s All-Star Jamie Hayes.

Thanks to his good form at NIHL level the Californian got the call up for the Elite league side midway through the campaign.

Sean’s determination, tenacity and above all speed caused no end of problems for defencemen across the league and was the difference between Cardiff winning and losing at times.

Also joining us is another big name NIHL forward as the prolific Steven Fisher joins us, also from Cardiff.

Fisher has been a standout goal scorer at this level for a number of years and this also saw him earn call ups to Cardiff’s Elite League side along with spells with Basingstoke Bison and Swindon Wildcats in the English Premier League.

The 27 year old Newport born sniper learnt his trade as he developed through the famed Cardiff junior development club. His knack of scoring goals has been evident from the very first season he appeared in senior hockey in 2004, and he is one of the most sought after British players in the NIHL.

Both players give the Redskins undoubted firepower for the 2013/14 season and notched nigh on 60 goals in league action last term in Cardiff colours.

“I don’t like to make a lot of changes to my squads once things have settled and are moving in the right direction” said Head Coach Warren Rost of his two new signings.

“Therefore any new faces would have to be significant and these are both significant players.  I’m sure they both had plenty of offers so I’m pleased they chose to join us and I’m really looking forward to working with the pair of them”

“These are exciting times with our new facility opening this season and these two are exciting players who are going to fit in on and off the ice”

Streatham move to a new multi million pound ice facility in November and will be announcing the rest of the squad over the coming weeks as we build up to the first puck drop in September.
