SIGNING NEWS: ‘The Boss’ is back for Sharks new season
Ross Murray is the latest player to sign up for the Building Craftsmen Dumfries-sponsored Solway Sharks new NIHL season starting in September.
The 22 year old Dumfries native has played all of his domestic hockey at the Ice Bowl, with just two seasons as a junior in the Greater Metro Hockey League (GMHL) in Canada.
Murray is known for his no-nonsense style and his partnership with Steven Moore on the Sharks’ ‘energy’ line – often used on penalty kill or to go up against opponents’ top lines.
Despite playing that role, Murray still contributes offensively for the Sharks – putting up 32 points in 33 League and Cup games last season (11+21), adding 90 penalty minutes for good measure.
Sharks coach Martin Grubb commented: “This is always one of the easiest decisions you make in bringing Ross back.
“He is the ultimate team player who will do anything for his team and team mates. He is a guy who leads by example by coming to play hard every night and always does the dirty jobs that a team needs.
“He has grit, toughness and also pops up with some big goals and is a huge asset on our PK so it was a no brainier to bring him back to the roster and I look forward to working with him again.”
Ross Murray once again dons the #90 jersey at the Ice Bowl this season and joins Juraj Senko, Ben Edmonds and Richard Bentham on the roster.
