SIGNING NEWS: Anthony Melbourne

Anthony Melbourne joins Widnes Wild

Blackpool based, ex Fylde Flyers D-man Antony Melbourne has agreed terms to join the Widnes Wild for the 2013/14 season. ”Big Tony” is a giant among his ice colleges standing at 6′ 3″ without skates he towers above most forwards and can move across the ice as quick as the best of them. Tony originally played as a junior at the BlackpoolPleasureBeach rink with the Blackpool Seagulls before they moved to Blackburn to form the now Blackburn Hawks and junior club.

Wild manager Mick Caunce is delighted that Tony has decided to travel and join us here in Widnes;

“Tony is an asset on any team and I am sure he will be a crowd pleaser once fully fit, we have had a few issues with our defence and that’s what I want to concentrate on while filling our last few roster places”

The Wild travel to Deeside for the 2nd time to take on the Dragons again and will have a few others back after injury and holidays. Calum Ruddick will be icing in defence this week along with Dan Etherington who also plays his first game. Face-Off at Deeside Ice Rink is 18.40 on Sunday 22nd September.

Melbourne’s shirt is available for OWN & LOAN in our “Fanzone” section, and will be wearing the #9.
