SIGNING: Kerr continues his development as part of Sharks blueline
Building Craftsmen Dumfries-sponsored Solway Sharks are delighted that top defensive prospect Stuart Kerr has signed up for another season with the NIHL side.
18-year-old Kerr had a breakthrough year icing on the club’s top pairing alongside Juraj Senko. He also played up to the Elite League with Braehead Clan and was part of Great Britain’s under 18 side that travelled to Romania for their World Championship in April.
Kerr has also played U20 and SNL for the Ice Bowl club as he has progressed through the ranks to be one of the most highly rated young defencemen in the League.
Martin Grubb, who also coached him at GB U18, said: ” Kerzi is a young player who I think has a big future in the game. He skates very well and sees the ice and can make a good pass which is key for our defence.
“He played with Juraj [Senko] last year and I think that benefitted him and he grew in confidence as the year went on. He has a good temperament and is good on the puck and this year we will work a bit more on his strength and developing his game to the next level in his own zone and adding to the skill set he possesses.
“Stuart played for GB u18’s in the World Championships last year in Romania and also for Braehead Clan in the EIHL so that tells you his talent level and I am delighted to continue to help him develop as a player and he will do well again this year.”
Stuart Kerr will wear #6 for BCD Solway Sharks this coming season.
Tomorrow it’s Sherks Super Sunday as we reveal three more players throughout the day!
