Sharks fall to Tigers by five goals to three
The BCD Solway Sharks made the long road trip down to Shropshire on Saturday for their top-of-the-table clash with the Telford Tigers and after an enthralling match returned home with their first competitive defeat of the season as the home side ran out victors by five goals to three.
In the first ten minutes the short-benched Sharks gave the Telford first line just a little too much time and respect and they quickly took advantage with goals from Plant (05:24) and Silverthorn (8:14). If the home support though this was going to be a rout then they were soon to be stunned into silence when ace marksman Iain Bowie (17:31 & 18:03) scored twice in a little over thirty seconds to level the scores at the firs break.
In the second period play constantly swung from end to end with Stokes (32:11) once more giving the home side an advantage before Iain Bowie (38:48 pictured) completed his hat-trick in acrobatic style.
In the final session the home side changed tactics playing mostly two line hockey and once more they were able to take a two goal advantage through Weaver (46:31) and Plant (53:01). For the final seven minutes the Sharks tries for a third comeback but came up against a stone-wall Tigers defence as the home side made sure that the back door remained firmly closed even when they were on the offensive.
