Shane’s here

Just as Oxford City Stars fans thought the club had finalised the roster for next season, it swooped in and captured the signature of Shane Moore from the Swindon Wildcats in the English Premier Ice Hockey League.

The 28 year old defenceman has a wealth of experience at the level above NIHL1 and has even captained the Wildcats in recent years.  It’s a fantastic signing for the Stars and represents even more security at the back with an already strong-looking roster lined up.

Moore was born in Swindon and will be making the trip down the A420 to join the Stars for the second season back in NIHL1.  Oxford fans will get to see him for the first time on the ice at Oxpens Road against the London Raiders on Sunday 13 September; the day after the first game of the season on the Isle of Wight against Wightlink Raiders.

Head coach Simon Anderson is delighted to have sealed such a high-quality player: “Signing a player of Shane’s calibre is absolutely huge for us. I am delighted that he has committed to the Stars for this season. Shane is a consummate professional who will fit right in with our young group of guys .He is a fantastic role model for our guys and they will learn not only how to be on the ice, but off it as well.”
