SEVEN Reasons To Get To Giants vs Braehead Clan This Saturday

The Giants are back!! Saturday night sees the Braehead Clan visit Belfast, face-off 7pm before the Giants travel to Sheffield for an away game on Sunday against the Steelers.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are on sale now – you can get yours online with Ticketmaster, or from The SSE Arena, Belfast Box Office in person or by calling (028) 9073 9074.

They say you never forget your first love and so, due to overwhelming demand (namely from the writer of these articles), the original has returned. If you have ever watched the sequels of Jaws, The Matrix, Grease or The Godfather then you will know that the original is always the best. Just in case you needed any reasons to get to Giants vs Braehead Clan this Saturday – then here are SEVEN to get you ready for the big game!

1. Fire & Ice

Did you say fire!? Yes – you read that right..this season’s Giants intro sees the team literally skate through fire as they make their way onto the ice. If you have not got to a game this season or been in your seat in time for the introductions – then get there early this Saturday..and enjoy! =Press Eye - Belfast - Northern Ireland - 27th August 2016 - Photo by William Cherry Belfast Giants' Jonathan Boxillenters the arena during Saturday nights exhibition game against their Elite League rivals the Braehead Clan.

2. Cup Crazy

No better reason to cheer the team on this Saturday than knowing that a home win would see the Giants advance to the Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals, with one game still to play in Group A! Following a win, all that would remain to be decided would be the position the Giants finish in Group A which determines who we play in the next round. Confused? Then read this helpful guide to the Challenge Cup!

3. The SSE Arena, Belfast

Wait..don’t the Giants always play there!? Yes, we do indeed! So why is this a ‘reason’? We are glad you asked! With the best facility in the league, there is nowhere we would rather play than at The SSE Arena…and it looks like we are not alone as, during a recent Twitter Q&A, Braehead’s Alex Leavitt claimed that his team ‘always seem to get good results there’.

That’s right Alex, we saw that tweet, and we’re sure the Giants fans including Boomerang Corner will not remind you of this one during the game……… img_0021

4. GIANT Prizes

At Saturday’s home game vs Braehead – you could win a GIANT cash prize! The Giants 50/50 Prize Draw gives you the chance to win big with half of the pot up for grabs. Remember, the more you buy, the more GIANT the prize! Last Saturday’s prize was £1,306.

Also on Saturday night are The Shirt off the Back draw, where you can win #14 Michael Forney’s Game Worn black alternate jersey, and Chuck-A-Puck (£1 each), with a first prize of a trip for two to Scotland thanks to Stena Line, second prize of a Giants jersey signed by the team and third prize of a family pass (2 Adults & 2 Kids) to a home game of your choice!

Tickets for both 50/50 and Shirt off the Back are £1 each, 5 for £3, 10 for £5, 30 for £10.

5. Braehead Battles

The last time the Giants & Clan met was entertaining throughout with the Giants coming out with a 3-2 overtime win. Click here to re-live the game with some big moments including in the shootout with great saves by Jackson Whistle and classy finishes by James Desmarais and David Rutherford.

These two sides also met in pre-season with the Giants winning 5-3 in Braehead and claiming the inaugural ‘Intu Cup’ in the process. While we cannot promise any trophies being handed out on Saturday night, what we do expect is another great Giants vs Clan game in Belfast.

6. Hit Me With Your Best Shot!

Two of the EIHL’s Top 10 goal scorers are in town on Saturday night…and they will both be wearing teal! Michael Forney and David Rutherford have posted 6 goals each so far this season and both will be back in action for the Giants this weekend.

???? GOAL: @MichaelForney14 scores! Giants 2 – @cardiffdevils 0
