Sens Weekend Preview – Lions and Barons

This weekend sees the 2J Design Sheffield Senators face their toughest challenge to date in the 2012/2013 NIHL2 North campaign.

Saturday’s game needs no introduction whatsoever, as the Sens and Lions do battle for the 4th and final time this season.  The three previous encounters between the Sens and the Lions have been end to end, physical and highly entertaining. Unfortunately, the Lions have come away victorious on all three occasions and now have a commanding 3 point advantage over the Sens at the top of NIHL2 North.  The Sens will need to bring their best performance of the season to take the 2 points.

On Sunday the Sens travel to Hobs Moat Road to take on the Solihull Barons who will be looking to return to winning ways after a 6-4 defeat at the hands of the Deeside Dragons last Sunday in Flintshire.  So far both teams have held strong in their own barn, the Sens won 4-1 back in October and then the Barons got their revenge in November holding out and recording a 5-3 victory.

The top of NIHL2 North is very tight, 4 teams are in the running for promotion and every game from now on is effectively playoff hockey.  The Sens need to be on top form this weekend to ensure they stay with the pack and can compete for the top 2 spots when the season draws to a close at the end of March.  It certainly makes for an exciting weekend of Sens hockey!

Saturday’s home fixture is proudly being supported by our friends Tom and Jay of Oakbrook Tea house.  Oakbrook Tea House is situated on Oakbrook Road near Endcliffe Park, why not pop in and try one of their delightful teas and a slice of home-made cake.  Visit the follow link for more information

We are offering £2 entry to anyone who comes to the game wearing a Sheffield hockey shirt (Steelers, Steeldogs, Spartans, Sens, Juniors, Shadows, Rec and Roller), take advantage of this great offer and enjoy some value for money entertainment in what promises to be a fantastic game!
