Sens strengthen as Doctor answers Bell

The 2J Design Sheffield Senators have recruited two new players this week.

With assistant captain Dave Ledger out long-term (broken ankle) and the recent departure of defenceman Josh Wilson, Sens Head Coach Andy Ellis has brought in two new faces to assist with our promotion push.

Tom ‘Doctor’ Proctor, a product of the SIHA has decided to join the Sens from the Sheffield Spartans.  Tom is a quick, skilful player with a good shot and will add some firepower up front.  Ellis added “I’ve known Tom some years having coached him back when he was an under 10 and then again when he was an under 14.  He played a couple of times for us last year and did a good job.  He started the season with the Spartans in NIHL1 and was looking to gain more ice time, so we have brought him in to continue his development and hopefully get him back in to the top tier very soon.”

Jonathan Bell is a new face to Sheffield, following in the footsteps of Mark Hartley, Kurtis Lowe, Nick Whyatt and Ciaran Quinn making the switch from the Lace city to the Steel city.  Jonny played for the Nottingham Lions last season and has taken time out so far this year after the birth of his child.  However he is now ready to play again and is looking forward to pulling on the Sens’ jersey for the first time on Saturday against his former team.  Sens coach Andy Ellis said “Jonny is a solid, stay at home defenceman, he will add good size to our blue line and lots of experience.”  Bell added “I can’t think of a better way to start my Sens career than against my old team, I can’t wait to get going.”

The Sens face off against the Nottingham Lions this Saturday (face off 4.30pm), the game is sponsored by Oakbrook Tea House.

We are offering £2 entry to anyone who comes to the game wearing a Sheffield hockey shirt (Steelers, Steeldogs, Spartans, Sens, Juniors, Shadows, Rec and Roller), take advantage of this great offer and enjoy some value for money entertainment in what promises to be a fantastic game!
