Sens D-Day… this Saturday 16/03/2013

This Saturday your 2J Design Sheffield Senators face off in a must-win game against promotion rivals the Deeside Dragons.

With two games to play the Sens currently sit one point behind the big spending Welsh outfit who inflicted a punishing defeat on the Sens last Sunday in Queensferry.  The Sens were bullied throughout and with no protection from the officials they suffered their first loss of the campaign at the hands of the Dragons.  Deeside opened the scoring in the first only for Callum Rawson to equalise before the first intermission.  In the 2nd period the Dragons took the lead on the Powerplay before the Sens fought back with two goals of their own through Tom Humphries and Joel Aheran and took the lead.  This caused the home side to fight back and they regained the lead, this was extended with less than 30 seconds remaining in the period and the scoreline read 5-3 as the buzzer sounded.  The Sens went all out attack in the third and some changes were made to try and find a way back in to the game, however, it wasn’t to be and the more experienced Dragons registered two more unanswered goals and kept the 2 points on Welsh soil.

This sets up a huge weekend for the Sens who need to win to stay in the promotion hunt.  Nottingham Lions deservedly captured the NIHL2 North league title last weekend with 2 emphatic victories over the divisions’ bottom two clubs.  Second place is still up for grabs and any one of three teams could face Coventry in the promotion/relegation playoff.

So, this a cry for support, come down and shout for your 2J Design Sheffield Senators, you have been fantastic all season and we need your help to make this final push for the playoffs!

Face off is 4.30pm and we are offering £2 entry to anyone wearing a Sheffield Hockey Shirt!
