Raszka makes call for extra support
“Just come and be loud” – that’s the rallying cry to Tigers fans from netminder Ondrej Raszka, ahead of Sunday’s top of the table clash with Milton Keynes Lightning.
The two teams meet at Telford Ice Rink with the Tigers leading their visitors by a single point in the English Premier League standings.
Tom Watkins’ men lost to the Lightning in a thrilling encounter at Milton Keynes last week, with the final goal coming just three second before the end of overtime.
Raszka is looking forward to gaining the upper hand on visiting netminder Przemyslaw Odrobny – a fellow Polish international – in front of a near capacity crowd.
He said: “Having a full building to play in front of doesn’t just help the netminder, but the whole team as well.
“If they are pushing for you to play even better, then that is very good to hear and always helps you to put in a much better performance.
“If anyone is thinking of coming on Sunday, then I would say to just come and be loud. It will really help the team.”
Raszka has been a stand-out performer for Telford this season, and is second the netminding averages – just a fraction shy of Odrobny.
But with the Tigers having lost both of their penalty shoot-outs so far, the 26-year-old is determined to make improvements.
He added: “It is great that we are winning games and I always try to do my best, but of course it could be better.
“I think I could help the team more in the shoot-outs. That used to be my best thing. Not right now, but I am working on it.
“We have a really good team and a good group of players. We’re working hard to win games and I think we’ve got a good chance of winning something this season.
“That is what we’re pushing for.”
