Price Works With Junior Club to Sign Young Guns
Blackburn Hawks NIHL 2 coaching and management team are please to announce that they have forged a relationship with the Blackburn Junior Hawks. In this relationship Carl Price and Carl Slater have agreed on the promotion of development of Dan Sanderson and Harry Mercer at a senior level on a full time basis.
After speaking with Blackburn Junior Head coach and Carl about this move he had the following to say.
Carl Slater Blackburn Junior Hawks Head coach
“I am pleased to see that Carl Price has given Dan Sanderson and Harry Mercer the opportunity to sign with the Hawks NIHL2 team on a full time basis. While it is a blow losing them within the junior ranks at Blackburn, the opportunity is too good for them to pass up and I would never stand in the way of a player’s development if it’s the right thing to do. I have watched Dan and Harry play on numerous occasions now and there is no doubt these guys are the future of the Blackburn Hawks. They are passionate about playing at Blackburn and its only right we get them ready for that step up to Hawks NIHL1. I will still be working closely with Carl Price to ensure they are on the right development path and that they fit in to Duncombe’s future plans. Best of luck guys and I’ll see you out there next season.”
Carl Price Blackburn Hawks NIHL 2 Head Coach
Singing Harry and Dan as full time players this season was one of my aims straight away as the Hawks NIHL2 coach. Harry and Dan are very talented players and will benefit greatly from the consistent exposure to a higher level of hockey. It’s great that Blackburn juniors and Blackburn Hawks are on the same page when coming to develop our home grown players. Harry and Dan are a product of the junior system and a healthy relationship with junior system here at Blackburn is key to the continued success of hockey.
We also had time this week to have a catch up with Harry and Dan about their season ahead.
“When i heard about the new Blackburn Hawks NIHL 2 team starting, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I personally think a pathway development team is what has been missing from the Blackburn set up. For a few years now I have been worried about my progression into senior hockey as I couldn’t see how I was going to progress. Now this team is in place I’m over the moon that i will have somewhere to play and grow as a player. There’s some quality players in Blackburn and I’m really looking forward to getting the season started.”
“I’m excited to be signing with the Blackburn Hawks NIHL 2 this season, It will be a big step for junior hockey to have a complete pathway through to seniors. After joining the club 2 years ago for my first season of league hockey I’m looking forward to see what this season will bring. I’m looking forward to developing as a player, and also working with the a new team and coach (Carl Price). It will be a big challenge for us as a new team this year as we will have to work hard in the pre-season and constantly strive to achieve our goals.”
