Players Announced For Elliott Testimonial

The first and maybe most important announcement for the Oxford Team (other than Darren himself!). Phil Elliott the younger brother of Darren has always had an involvement within hockey whether it be roller hockey on the streets outside the Elliott household, turning out for Norman’s memorial match or more recently as the equipment manager for the Oxford City Stars. A gifted skater who many say should have taken up ice hockey like his brother will further add that family feel to the day, ensuring it is a special occasion for all of the family!

A further announcement for the Darren Elliott Testimonial Select Team, Danny Hughes! As an ever present for Bracknell Hornets since 2010 and previous stints as far back as 2003, Danny is a talented and prolific goal scorer who has featured against Elliott throughout both of their glittering careers. Known for his big shot, smart play and never say die attitude Danny will be sure to add a goal scoring touch to the game!

Sam Arnold is back! Sam who is a product of the Oxford junior setup and played a number of years for the Stars alongside Elliott has been confirmed for Team Oxford. He was an integral part of the Championship winning teams in the NIHL 2 on two occasions for the Stars. Plying his trade in defence Sam this gritty, hardworking and reliable player was always seen as a pleasure to be around by all of his team mates. Last featuring for the Stars in 2015/16 Sam is now back on the ice and will no doubt have Oxford supporters looking forward to seeing him perform once again at the Oxpens arena!

We are pleased to announce that the current Streatham IHC Coach and former Wightlink Raiders stalwart Jeremy Cornish is returning to the ice as part of the Select Team line-up to for Darren Elliott’s testimonial! The former Elite league enforcer and ENL/NIHL playmaker has always had a fierce rivalry with Elliott which has seen numerous flash points between the two throughout their encounters. Similarities in their passion and a willingness to give everything for their respective teams has seen a mutual respect formed between the two influential forwards. We look forward to seeing Jeremy back on the ice to help celebrate Darren’s career.
